Latest Road Developments Across the UK

Here at GenRev we’re committed to making road journeys as easy and stress-free as possible. So today, we’re taking a look at some of the latest road developments currently in the pipeline.

Highways England has expressed a desire to build back better after the pandemic, with the aim of making road travel faster and more convenient for all road users, whether you’re a pedestrian, cyclist or driver. The aim is to create a framework for faster personal journeys, as well as facilitating business deliveries – and that requires some hefty national investment.

Around £218 million has been earmarked to upgrade a number of roads across the East of England, including the A1, A12, A14, A47 and the M11. And there are over 100 schemes currently underway covering Buckinghamshire, Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Essex, Hertfordshire, Norfolk and Suffolk. Meanwhile, there are plans to upgrade several roads across Cheshire, including Junction 19 of the M6 at Knutsford.

In fact, over the next five years Highways England aims to invest over £42 billion to upgrade our roads, with dozens of major road projects and hundreds of schemes currently in development. One of their aims is to encourage biodiversity, reduce carbon emissions and help the government achieve its target of becoming net zero carbon by 2050.

Disruption expected to affect deliveries

Of course, wherever there are roadworks, there are traffic calming measures in force, and these can often lead to unwanted delays. Vehicles spending time idling in traffic jams only contributes to the ongoing pollution problems we’re facing. Add in the continuing impact of the HGV driver shortage, there are also ongoing issues for delivery times.

However, this isn’t a problem for us at GenRev, since we use a fleet of smaller delivery vehicles, which don’t require HGV licences to operate. And rather than getting caught up in the daily commuter traffic, our drivers are working throughout the night during off-peak hours, so they’re not subjected to any of the usual delays. This helps to make our In Night and In Boot delivery services particularly attractive for our customers. Your field service engineers can start work with all that day’s parts, ready and waiting for them from the moment they clock in.

Reducing vehicle emissions is big news at the moment and it’s something we take very seriously at GenRev. Our drivers spend as little time idling as possible, thanks to careful planning that uses a regular A to B trunking system. Not only does this save on fuel costs, but it helps to limit the production of harmful emissions into the atmosphere – and it saves you money too!

GenRev’s smart delivery services operate at night while you’re sleeping to ensure your parts and other items get to your field engineers or sales reps on time before the day begins.

Avoid the impact of traffic delays on your business by using GenRev. Contact us to find out more about the benefits of our In Night and In Boot services.
